To ensure the overall operational service delivery of SQA’s
Enterprise Systems in line with user requirements

Qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience

As a minimum be educated to SCQF Level 8



Educated to SVQ Level 6 (HND level or equivalent preferred in an IT related
discipline)



Be able to operate standard des
ktop and any specialist IT systems relevant to
the role.



A high level of literacy and numeracy skills



Well defined communication skills, both written and spoken



Strong negotiating, influencing and mediation skills



Ability to communicate effectively with
both technical and non
-
technical staff
at a variety of levels, both within and out with SQA



Line management experience



Strong analytical and problem solving skills ideally gained in a Unix
environment



Good organisational skills and a methodical approach



Must have a minimum of 2 year’s Linux systems administrator and 3 years
user
-
level Linux experience (Red Hat, Solaris, AIX)



Knowledge of the installation, configuration and tuning of the Apache web
server and the Tomcat JSP/Servlet engine as well as Websp

Server, Websphere Portal Server, JBoss Application Server and SOA Server



Knowledge of at least one of the mainstream Unix shells (Korn, Bourne or
Bash)



Knowledge of Unix programming tools, such as sed and nawk



Working knowledge of networki
ng protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, UDP/IP) and
services built on them (NFS, Samba, SSH, DNS, ISCSI)



Knowledge of the installation, configuration and tuning of the Apache web
server and the Tomcat JSP/Servlet engine as well as Websphere and JBOSS



Must have a minim
um of 2 years SAP Basis Administration



Working knowledge of relational database systems and the SQL query
language



Working knowledge of the system management aspects of the Ingres
RDBMS

Working knowledge of Data Replication Tools e.g HVR Software.



Working knowledge of the Erwin Data Modeller



Knowledge of the development lifecycle and strong user administration
