Boston Medical Center

Challenge:

As a major, not
-
for
-
profit academic medical center with a large network of
community health centers throughout Boston, Boston Medical Center had need of QA
services. Their major push was an impending implementation of the GE Centricity
systems. This new system was the replacement for the existing medical practice and
billing management system that had been in place for many years.

Solution:

Reliance QA stepped in to focus on data load and performance testing of
Boston Medical Center's enterprise solution for medical records. With an automated
data load process, Reliance provided a Point
-
in
-
Time test capability while reducing the
data load time by a factor of ten.

Results
: Our service gave Boston Medical Center the ability to load test
-
specific data up
to point needed for further test analysis. We were able to streamline the process of
specific current areas such as: Patient Search, Patient Registration, Patient Visit
Management, and Patient Scheduling Mgmt.

John Hancock

Claims System

Challenge:

The smooth operation of a large insurance carrier such as John
Hancock is vital to their operation. After consolidating three systems and
three databases into one application, John Hancock ran an extensive study
and decided to build a new system utilizing Pega Rule Process Commander
(PRPC). This was to be a multi
-
year project involving a completely new build
project from business requirements, through software selection, vendor
partner selection, infrastructure, and test.

Solution:
John Hancock brought Reliance QA onboard after recognizing the
critical nature of the QA Test Team function. Therefore, they wanted a team
that could be could be involved during the requirements phase as well as
define the test strategy, approach, plan, and ultimately deliver. We assigned a
team consisting of a QA Lead and 7 functional testers.

Result:

By utilizing a Test Team that was independent of the Development
team, Reliance QA helped better define implementation objectives. Reliance
QA helped to identify overall requirements by working corroboratively with
the Business and IT teams in performing the appropriate level of testing.
Proactively identifying risks and mitigations led to an overall higher quality of
product.

McKesson

Challenge:

McKesson, a leading healthcare service company, needed
assistance with their quality management of three separate development
projects. Their overall design included a 3
-
tier architecture using Java,
Vignette, and LifeRay as portal applications with Tibco as the middle layer and
Oracle for the database.

Solution:

Reliance QA partnered with McKesson to create an overall testing
strategy for their group. The strategy included smoke, acceptance, functional,
automation (regression and performance) testing, as well as managed daily
operations. We implemented templates to standardize processes and
promote improved communications. Also included in our service:
recommendations for changes that closed the gaps in McKesson's existing
processes.

Result:

By identifying and implemented efficiency opportunities, Reliance
QA’s program resulted in faster turnarounds, higher quality, and an improved
focus on reusability. These factors significantly cut down on McKesson’s
testing cycles

ultimately preventing addition costs to the overall project.
Furthermore, our resolutions for cross
-
project issues and risks allowed us to
define and implement standard metrics to measure the success or failure of
each test effort.
