Checklist



For best results SOCIUS recommends installing ERP Server and CRM Server each on a dedicated
member server.

Although the following are supported, certain Windows server configurations are not recommended due
to possi
ble instability and performance issues.

Running ERP Server on a Windows server acting as an Active Directory domain controller
managing a large number of user accounts, computer accounts, group policies, organizational
units, remote sites, or other network

Before the upgrade you must do the following:

Please be sure to read fully all installation and set up procedures before beginning your
Sage 100
Advanced ERP

upgrade. Failure to do so may result in an unsuccessful upgrade. SOCIUS
strongly recommends that we are involved,
remotely or
on
-
site, during any upgrade. All telephone
calls regarding the upgrade, if you elect to complete the conversion your
self, are billable. If support
is needed after hours, which is defined as anytime other than Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m.
-

Verify that you have a complete backup, including all data and program files for your existing
version of
Sage 100 Advanced ERP
, just prior to upgrade installation. SOCIUS will take every
reasonable precaution to protect existing hardware, programs, and d
ata. However, it is required
that the client ensures adequate backups of existing software are available to protect against the
unlikely event of data loss. SOCIUS cannot be responsible for failures of existing hardware that
take place during the installat
ion.


o

Make sure that all entries have been posted prior to the install. Any un
-
posted entries will be
deleted and could cause problems with existing data.


o

None of the existing Security Set
tings will carry over to the
new release

from the 3.xx version of
S
age 100 Advanced ERP
. Some of the Security Settings will carry over
from an upgrade from 4.xx
to
the new release
.

Customizations, reports, and for

. If they do not carry over they will have

to be modified or recreated.


o

Confirm in Accounts Receivable Customer Maintenance that all customers hav
ing

tax exempt
numbers have a sales tax code defined. If a sales tax code is not defined, the tax exempt number


will be deleted during the upgrade.


o

Verify that all users are out of the
Sage 100 Advanced ERP

system prior to the install and will
remain out of
Sage 100 Advanced ERP

throughout the upgrade process.
SOCIUS

must have
access to the server, as
the installation must be performed here.


o

All of your
Sage 100 Advanced ERP

modules and any customizations (i.e., enhancements/third
party products) must be upgraded to
Sage 100 Advanced ERP
. Please be sure that you have all
CDs or downloads
for custom pr
ograms, and verify that custom programs are written in the
appropriate levels of application program files. If you do not have all
CDs
for third party products
and custom enhancements, please call your SOCIUS Account Manager.


o

Any changes made to default

Sage 100 Advanced ERP

menus will be deleted, and will have to be
re
-
setup. Also, if task menus are in use, these will also have to be re
-
setup. It is recommended to
print out the Task Menu Maintenance Listing before the installation. Also, be sure to prin
t or
remove all reports from deferred print, as these will be deleted during an upgrade process.


o

SOCIUS highly recommends printing all security setups and application form layouts (i.e. checks,
invoices) before installation of the upgrades.


o

Verify that y
ou have sufficient disk space available on your drive for the installation. The amount of
free drive space needs to be 3 times the size of your
Sage 100 Advanced

database. (i.e., if your
current
Sage 100 Advanced ERP

program and data files currently take u
p 100 MB of drive space,
you will need a minimum of 300 MB of free drive space).


o

SOCIUS will need to have access to all workstations and printers intended to be used with
Sage
100 Advanced ERP

to make sure that every workstation is set up and configured
properly, and that
all printers are also tested. We also recommend having your LAN Administrator or internal MIS
support available if needed.
SOCIUS

will need administrator rights to the network during the
upgrade process.


o

If during this installation the
client will be switching platforms (i.e. moving
Sage 100 Advanced ERP

from Novell or Unix to NT),
SOCIUS

will need access to both servers from one workstation in order
to copy the
Sage 100 Advanced ERP

data files from the one server to the second server. S
OCIUS
will not be responsible for configuring this workstation to connect to both servers, and failure to
have access to both servers can seriously delay the installation process.


o

SOCIUS strongly recommends having Internet access on the
Sage 100 Advanced
ERP

workstations for remote troubleshooting purposes. We also strongly suggest having a "SOCIUS"
user ID set up as a network user and a
Sage 100 Advanced ERP

user for support purposes.

SOCIUS does not install, update, or maintain updates or patches to ne
twork operating systems.
The updates to the file server or network operating system need to be done prior to installing the
software. We can, however, arrange to have these services provided if needed.
