TCP/IP Protocol Stack Configuration

Configure at least the following for your TCP/IP protocol stack:

Your system's hostname

(for example, mypc) and IP (Internet
Protocol) address. An IP address is a numeric that uniquely
identifies your PC (for example, 127.128.53.125).

Your system's subnet mask. A subnet mask identifies a portion
of your network (for example, 255.255.255.0).

If you need to communicate with computers beyond your local
area network, the IP address of at least one gateway system
(router) is required.

A service for mapping hostnames to IP addresses. This service
can be in the form of a Domain Name System (DNS) se
rver, a
host table, or a WINS server. Without a name service, you can
connect to a network server only if you specify the complete IP
address (instead of the hostname).

For more information about configuring the TCP/IP protocol stack,
refer to your TCP/IP
Vendor documentation.
