We are the biggest university medical centre in northern Germany and the only maximum-care
hospital in Schleswig-Holstein. With more than 10,000 employees we are also one of the biggest
employers in Schleswig-Holstein. We provide everything that modern medical care has to offer as
well as university research and training together with the universities both in Kiel and in Lübeck.
The Institute of Clinical Molecular Biology at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel invites
applications for a
Postdoctoral Position
(TV-L, E 14)
Your tasks:
The successful applicant (m/f ) will be involved in the DEEP German Epigenome consortium and will be
responsible for in-depth RNA analysis of the projected reference epigenomes in the fields of intestinal
inflammatory disorders in the laboratory of Philip Rosenstiel. He/she will analyze complex transcriptomic
events (e.g. splicing, sense/antisense transcription) using next-generation sequencing. He/she will further
assess the stability of selected epigenetic marks in the intestinal tract (cf. Genome Research 2012, Nature
2012) and develop new algorithms for transcriptome analysis together with the bioinformatic core groups of
the consortium (
Your profile:
We are interested in recruiting self-motivated individuals with a desire to succeed and complement the
internationally competitive research activities of the laboratory. A strong background in informatics/
bioinformatics is required. Applicants (m/f ) should have skills in scientific programming (e.g. C++, Perl,
Python) and experience with utilizing open source tools to expedite development . Experience in the analysis
of next-generation sequencing data is an advantage. Scientists (m/f ) from adjacent fields (e.g. mathematics,
informatics) with excellent computational skills and a strong interest in biology are encouraged to apply.
We use state-of-the-art technologies from classical cell biology to next-generation sequencing. All
technologies are locally available in an innovative, dynamically growing and supporting environment. In
addition, the laboratory is member of the two local DFG Clusters of Excellence ‘Inflammation at Interfaces’
and ‘The Future Ocean’ and an ICGC consortium.
Disabled candidates (m/f ) who are equally qualified will receive preference.
