on
all the different options

this
university offers
. There
are

possibilities to
get

a bachelor

a

for example
in
chemistry, biochemistry and
electro

mechanics
.

After th
is

short but interesting
introduction, the group was split up
in two

s. T
he first went to the workshop of electroni
cs and sound.
Mr
Benjamin
Samyn
taught
them the same lesson the first

year
university
students have
when they
start

the second semester. He told them about the invention of
Arduino nano
.

An Arduino is a microcontroller that is accompanied by a very
user
-
fr
iendly development environment. Arduino program
mes

are open to all
those who have no background in programming or electronics. They lower the
threshold for non
-
electronics for something

fun to create electronic components.

Joris
, one of the students participating in this Comenius project,
s
tated
: “Maybe I
will do something with
electronics in my ca
reer
, so this workshop was really
interesting to me
.”

A
fter

Mr Samyn’s explanation,
the students went themselves
to work.

T
hey built a

program to

blink a LED in different
colours

and frequencies.
Then,
Mr

Samyn explained how to produce sound with a litt
le microphone.
Marco
, an Italian student
, reacted
: “This is another way to gain insight into the
world of electronics
!

a

very enthusiastic
teacher. H
