Funded by the UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC), PML is offering a PhD
studentship titled: ‘Quantifying the costs and benefits of offshore renewable
energy generation on marine ecosystems’. The successful candidate for this
studentship will be registered with York University.
The main objective is to investigate the impacts of offshore wind farms
on ecosystem goods and services in order to develop management
recommendations that would enhance offshore renewable energy generation
while minimising its impacts on the marine environment. A combination of
ecological research with socio-economic valuation will be undertaken including
the use of monetary and non-monetary valuation techniques to quantify and
value marine ecosystems goods and services.
PML is developing and applying integrated scientific understanding and
solutions, addressing interactions between the marine environment and
people to sustain marine ecosystems, their services and societal benefits.
