resources are getting
depleted a new kind of
electrical network

becomes a necessity
. These „smart grids”,
instead of distributing electri
c energy

), also have capability to control

electrical power
flow for its optimal
application
. The main goal of such systems is to optimize
application
, lower costs and maximize reliability
,

applying

two way communication

between the
system itself and the
final consumers
.

The MDM

(Meter Data Management)

is the central point of such systems, which unifies and
stores readings in a central database

that reflects the quality and quantity of the electric energy
distribution (d
elivery)
. The main task of an MDM system is to accept and store the incoming readings
from the AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure). The part of the MDM system
dealing with it,

is
known as

AMI connector.

Th

main goal of this paper

is
develop
ment

of
a
n

e
nvironment
simulation that represents the
system which the AMI connector communicates
with
the AMI infrastructure and the rest of the MDM
system.

he development of a mechanism for benchmarking the performance of the connector that
helps in further develop
ment of the mentioned component

is considered as well
.
