Resumen

Con el fin de que sirva de apoyo para la reestructuración del programa de Maestría en
Ingeniería de
Cómputo que se imparte en el CIC IPN, se presenta un reporte de los cursos que
se imparten en universidades reconocidas que tienen un programa similar.


1. Algunas consideraciones


Es importante señalar que en las universidades consultadas no se imparte la

maestría en
ingeniería de cómputo como tal. La maestría que más se le parece es la Maestría en Ciencias
con especialidad en Ingeniería Eléctrica y Cómputo (Eléctrica and Computer Engineering).

Se eliminaron de los nombre de los cursos palabras como “Advan
ced” o “Intro” por considerar
que estos adjetivos son relativos y que la información importante está en la materia del curso.

3. Observaciones


Visitando los sitios de las universidades anteriores he podido observar algunas aspectos
comunes a todas ellas
:


Flexibilidad en los programas.
De los listados anteriores se observa que en general las
universidades prestigiosas ofrecen una cantidad de cursos bastante grande. Es claro que
cualquier estudiante de maestría no lleva todos estos cursos sino que elige d
e entre ellos el
número suficiente para completar su programa.

Información profusa y precisa.
Para que la flexibilidad mencionada en el punto anterior sea

efectiva, el estudiante debe tener toda la información posible antes de ingresar a la maestría.

El po
sible estudiante debe conocer como mínimo:

Que puede esperar de la maestría, que conocimientos tendrá al egresar, el número de cursos
necesarios, temario de los cursos, obligatoriedad de los cursos, líneas de investigación,
duración de los cursos, formas
de evaluación, facilidades, infraestructura, quienes son los
profesores, etapas de la maestría, reglamentos, procedimientos, laboratorios, cuáles serán sus
responsabilidades, a quien puede acudir en cada circunstancia.


4. Hacia un programa de la Maestría
en Ingeniería de
Computo


Desde mi punto de vista hay bastante uniformidad entre las listas de los cursos que se ofrecen
en las universidades analizadas. En particular la forma en que el Tecnológico deMassachusset
agrupa los cursos da una idea clara de los

cursos típicos de una Maestría en Ingeniería de
Cómputo, sólo hay que tener en cuenta que dado que en el MIT el grado que se ofrece es
Maestría en Ingeniería Eléctrica y de Cómputo en el listado aparecen algunas materias que son
más típicas de una Maestrí
a en Ingeniería Eléctrica.


Considero que los profesores de la Maestría en Ingeniería de Cómputo pueden ofrecer un
subconjunto significativo de estos cursos de acuerdo a sus intereses académicos y líneas de
investigación. Si además se consideran electivos
para la Maestría en Ingeniería de Cómputo,
los cursos que se impartan en la Maestría en Ciencias de la Computación, entonces se tendrá
un conjunto muy amplio de cursos para armar un programa sólido a cada estudiante que
ingrese a la maestría.

Dicho program
a se haría en función de la formación previa e intereses profesionales del
estudiante.

En mi opinión, además de definir la lista de cursos que se ofrecerán (para lo cual los listados
presentados en este documento pueden servir de base), la labor del cuerpo

académico en la
reestructuración debe ser establecer con precisión la información mencionada en el punto
anterior.
