This assignment covers Internet addressing, specifically subnetting. A subnet is a dividing the IP address NOT along the Cla
ss A, B, or C
boundaries (i.e. not along the 8 bit groups). To perform subnetting you also need to understand binary number conver
sion. For the work sheet

A subnet uses a specific number of bits for the network and host IDS, not just the 8 bit boundaries. So in the previous exam
is specifying a network ID of 27 bits and a host ID of 5 bits. This network will be able to handle 2^5
