T) is a technological revolution that
represents the future of computing,
communications and networking, and
its development depends on dynamic technical innovation in a number of
important fields, from wireless sens
ing
to cloud computing.

embedding sensing
elements
and short

range transceivers into a
wide
array of additional
gadgets and everyday items,
the I
o
T
enabl
es
new
forms of
communication between people and things, and between things
themselves
, and hence
it
offer
s
immense potential to
consumers,
manufacturers and
industries
.
However, creating
the potential benefits
off
ered by the I
oT
poses a number of challenges, not only due to the
nature of the enabling technologies but also to the sheer scale of their
deployment.
This
presentation
will
firstly give the introduction
of IoT
and
then
introduce
the architecture, key technologies and applications of IoT.
Furthermore,
the discussion
s
of open challenges and possible solutions in
the area of IoT
are also provided
.

received the Ph.
D. degree in
Computer Science and Information Engineering from National
Central University, Taiwan, in 1995. He is currently a Full
Professor with the Department of CSIE at Tamkang University,
Taiwan. Dr. Chang served as an Associate Guest Editor of
