OBJECTIVE

2.0

This
document defines the system in

product testing of hardened Ready Mix Concrete to ensure
compliance to the customer’s specification on concrete strength.


3.0

SCOPE

3.1

This procedure covers the schedule coordination with the client, internal and external com
pression
testing, re
-
test and resolution.


4.0

DEFINITION

4.1

Compression test


refers to the behavior of materials under crushing loads. The specimen is
compressed and deformation at various loads is recorded
,
used to determine
elastic limit
,
proportional limit
,
yield point
,
yield st
rength

and, for some materials,
compressive strength
.

4.2

Rebound Hammer Test


refers to the
rebound of an elastic mass
that
depends
on the hardness of
the surface

against which its mass strikes,

or

upon the surface hardness of the concrete.

4.3

Coring Test


refers to the means of measuring, estimating and comparing the strength of in
-
place
concrete, drilled from the structure to evalu
ate whether the structural capacity of a concrete
member is adequate.

6.0

RESPONSIBILITY

6.1

It is the responsibility of the Test Facilitator to inform and get the client’s commitment on the
testing schedules.

6.2

It is the responsibility of the QA Laboratory Technician to implement activities described in this
p
rocedure.

6.3

It is the responsibility of the Ready Mix Concrete Department, to remove and replace the delivered
RMC after all possible tests are exhausted.


7.0

PROCEDURE DETAILS

7.1

The QA Laboratory Technician reviews the Concrete Monitoring File to de
termine and identify
concrete samples due for compressive strength test.

7.2

The QA Laboratory Technician prepares the schedule to conduct the compressive strength testing
of the cylinder samples.

7.3

The QA Laboratory Technician proceeds to call the clie
nts and propose the schedule of testing.

7.3.1 If the clients are available on the specified date, QA Laboratory Technician continues to next
step.

7.3.2 If the client’s are not available on the specified date, QA Laboratory Technician proposes an
alternat
e schedule.

7.3.3 QA Laboratory Technician re
-
schedules the test dates as per client’s preference.

7.4

The Quality Test Facilitator drains the cylinder sample 24 hours at least prior to testing.

7.5

The QA Laboratory Technician checks if the client is requ
ired to be present during the
compression testing.


7.5.1 If the client presence is required, QA Laboratory Technician r determines the testing location.

The QA Laboratory Technician offers to have the compressive strength testing to be conducted at
the JLR Laboratory.

7.6.1 If the client acc
epts, QA Laboratory Technician proceeds to prepare the compressive testing
at JLR Laboratory.


7.6.2 If the client declines, QA Laboratory Technician determines a 3
rd

party Laboratory.

7.6.3 The QA Laboratory Technician prepares the cylinder samples and p
roceeds to the 3
rd

party
Laboratory.

7.7

The QA Laboratory Technician conducts the compressive strength testing.

7.8

The QA Laboratory Technician determines if the customer requires compression testing test report.

7.8.1 If the customer requires the compre
ssion testing report, QA Laboratory Technician prepares
to make the report.

7.8.2 The QA Laboratory Technician makes the compression testing report.

7.8.3 If the customer does not require the compression testing report, QA Laboratory Technician
prepares to

check if the cylinder samples passed the compression testing.

7.9

The QA Laboratory Technician determines if the cylinder samples passed the compressive strength
testing.


7.9.1 If the samples pass, QA Laboratory Technician records the data and ends the p
rocess.


7.9.2 If the samples fail, QA Laboratory Technician prepares to conduct a compressive strength re
-
test.

7.10

The QA Laboratory Technician gathers the following data, Cycle Data, Sample Card, Batch
Ticket, Slump @ Plant Monitoring, Sample Collector

Schedule and Test Report.

7.11

The QA Laboratory Technician informs the SMD Manager, RMC Area Manager, and calls a
meeting to get direction and prepares the supporting evidence.

7.12

The QA Laboratory Technician conducts a compressive strength re
-
test.

7
.13

Sales and Marketing Manager/Sales Engineer proceeds with the Collection process.


7.13.1 If the samples pass, QA Laboratory Technician records the data and ends the process.

7.13.2 If the samples fail, QA Laboratory Technician prepares to inform the Sa
les and Marketing
Department of the result.

7.14

The QA Laboratory Technician conducts Rebound Hammer Test.

7.15

The QA Laboratory Technician determines if the result of the Rebound Hammer Test is within the
specified range.

7.15.1 If the results pass, QA

Laboratory Technician records the data and ends the process.


7.15.2 If the result failed, QA Laboratory Technician prepares to conduct the Coring Test.

7.16

The QA Laboratory Technician conducts the Coring Test.

7.17

The QA Laboratory Technician determin
es if the result of the Coring Test is within the specified
range.


7.17.1

If the results pass, QA Laboratory Technician records the data and ends the process.

7.17.2 If the result failed, QA Laboratory Technician prepares to conduct Load Test.

7.18

The QA

Laboratory Technician conducts the Load Test.

7.19

The QA Laboratory Technician conducts Load Test.


7.19.1

If the results pass, QA Laboratory Technician records the data and ends the process.

7.19.2 If the result failed, QA Laboratory Technician prepares

to remove and replace the delivered

RMC.

7.20

The Ready Mix Concrete Department removes and replaces the delivered RMC and ends the
process.
