Make sure the switch is on NORMAL, The front panel must be on
01 B.

Push the White Butto
n on the front of the As400 and hold for two
seconds. The As400 will start up all on it’s own.

Sign on to the Console as user: QSECOFR.


5.

If all services do not come up correctly, which sometimes happens
with a power outage, you may need to do an automat
ic IPL so the
startup programs run from scratch. Do the following:

When you are able to sign on the console you have to figure out what jobs are
scheduled to run and in what ord
er. Check
WRKJOBSCDE

to check the job
schedules. At this point you can submit the job immediately to run. Check with
the Operations Manager or the Programming Manager if you are unclear of what
has to run.


Bringing up the System using the Manual IPL
Mode:

The only time you would bring up the As400 using the Manual IPL mode:

1.

The system locked up during IPL in normal mode

2.

If you need more control over the IPL process, system values can be
checked or altered, DASD can be re
-
configured, PTF’s can be appli
ed.



At this point, the system is stuck during a Normal IPL:

1.

HARD POWER OFF:

A.

Hold the White Button on the front of the Machine for 2 seconds

B.

You will see a zero (0) come up on the LCD display

C.

Push the white button again

D.

The As400 will power off.


2.

Turn t
he Switch to Manual Mode.

A.

The LCD display will show 01 B

B.

Push the white button and hold for 1 second

C.

The LCD display will start showing the IPL codes:


(Informational only) LCD display codes on the front panel:

C3: Processor and memory

C6: As400 com
ing up

C9: Starting Operating System

D Series: As400 coming down


D.

Console will start coming up.

E.

Select Option #1: Perform an IPL

F.

While the As400 is performing the manual IPL


turn the key back to
normal mode.

G.

When Console displays a sign on screen


logon as QSECOFR



H.

F3 to exit PTF screen

Enter on IPL Options

Enter to get out of Path screens

IPL is complete

If the As400 was in a restricted state when it went down: (red lightning bult
