: INPE maintains a Visitor’s Centre in its headquarters, in São José dos
Campos, State of São Paulo

; and the Institute of Aeronautics
and Space (IAE), in the

Aerospace Technical Center (CTA), in São José dos Campos,
São Paulo, maintains show

rooms for visitors. Besides the Brazilian governmental
space insti
tutions and the Association of Brazilian Aerospace Industries (AIAB) usually
participate of international exhibits


such as those organized in conjunction with the
IAF Congress and the Aerospace Fair of Le Bourget, Paris


as well of other similar

s that take place within the country.

Mass media
:
Although those have not been frequent
,

from time to time there have
been important documentaries about the Brazilian Space Program or some of its
segments shown both through the public and the paid televi
sion channels. Magazines
and daily newspapers have also, from time to time, published articles on space
activities. It is worth mentioning, moreover, the important role played by Major

Marcos Pontes, who has been trained in Houston to be the first Brazil
ian astronaut, in
divulgating and calling people’s attention to the space activities in Brazil.

Other activities
:
INPE has been successful in organizing, annually, tutorial activities
on space science and technologies for second grade students (School of
Space). It has
also distributed to high
-
schools a kit containing a simplified version of Spring


the
software for image processing developed in the Institute


as well as images from all
the Brazilian State capital cities, which has been used to introduc
e students with the
concept of remote sensing and promote space activities as well.
