Unit description:

Provides an understanding of how the laws of thermodynamics are applied to practical
engineering cycles. Studies include positive displacement gas compressors; air standard
cycles; Rankine cycle with superheat; vapour compression refriger
ators and heat pumps;
combustion psychrometry and heat transfer. The unit also provides a knowledge and
understanding of thermofluid phenomena via flow visualisation, theory and exercises
