AEROSPACE TECHNOLOGY
AEROSPACE TECHNOLOGY
Yr 11
S4
A special course designed to give students an insight
into the world of aviation theory
WHY AVIATION?
Aviation theory has advanced rapidly
over the last 100 years. From the
days of the Wright brothers to the
fast jets currently employed around
the world today, the Royal Air Force
has used this technology to carry out
its part of the defence mission.
The course looks to explore some of
the theory that has been developed
during this time and looks at how it
can be implemented.
WHAT HAPPENS?
The course is based at Royal Air Force College, Cranwell, where all of the Engineer Officers
in the Royal Air Force have their initial training. The course provides the students with the
opportunity to work on a variety of aviation related projects. All of the workshops
involve a ‘design and make’ element as well as introducing the concept of ‘Enterprise’,
endeavouring to make a product that is not only effective but also cost effective. All of the
projects will be supported by professionals from the industry. The college is also an active
flying station, providing a variety of opportunities to see theory in practice.
