Sprint 60

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Overall Status: OK

Some tasks are progressing well, others have slowed
down due to new priorities added to the release via
Emergency CCBs for recent patches (2.4.7, 2.4.8),
and other JIRA research items.

The backlog scope has increased and will therefore
require some items to be re
-
prioritized for inclusion in
release 3.1 or beyond 3.1.

CONNECT 3.1 Quarter Priorities

Feature

Description

CONNECT CORE Gateway
Refactoring

Java Library Architecture Enhancements

Separation of Web Services and Business Logic via component proxies

in Spring Framework

Enables CONNECT portability

to
many environments
in the future
.

Enables the use of other technologies in the future

e.g. REST, XMPP, SMTP, etc.).

Improves

CONNECT performance when the adapter and gateway reside on the same machine.

Reduces

the number of w
eb service calls

Deferred Document
Retrieve

and Query
S
ervices

Document Retrieve and Query will be enhanced to support Deferred Messaging Services.

Deferred Messaging enables a service to defer the processing of a message for an indefinite amount of time,
allowing

for minutes, hours, days, weeks, or even months to transpire before sending a response to a
message.

Large Image & File Transfer

(
LiFT
)
for Document
Retrieve

Mechanism to send and receive files

in excess of 1GB
over the NHIN.

Transfer

of
large files between

g
ateways using an Out
-
Of
-
Band transfer Mechanism.

Enhancements

will apply to Document Retrieve in 3.1.

The out
-
of
-
band connection information is communicated

using NHIN services
. When the responding
gateway receives the message, it is able to determine that the data is to be transferred using the out
-
of
-
band
mechanism. Information in the message is used to retrieve the file across a separate secured HTTP
connection (2
-
way

SSL).

Solution to be proposed to NHIN.

2.4.x Operational Support

The CONNECT Team will provide support to the Funding partners during their production activities using
CONNECT Release 2.4.x.

Performance Testing
Enhancements for 3.x and
2.4.x

Enhancements will continue to the automated

performance testing framework introduced in Release 3.0.

Automate Conformance
Tests

All Tests that have been provided by the NHIN testing group will be added to the CONNECT automate
testing process.

Administrative

Documents

(e.g. PQRI feedback

NHIN
-
Connect for distribution of Administrative Documents, e.g., PQRI feedback reports for
providers

PQRI
: Patient Quality Reporting Initiative.

Feedback reports inform participating providers about the results from processing
submitted clinical documents and provide a periodic analysis of their participation in the
quality improvement initiative.

CMS can distribute via HIEs administrative documents to providers participating in programs such
as the OCSQ PQRI program.

esMD

updates to allow HIH to submit documents in
“x12 275”
format.

This capability would allow HIHs to submit x12 275 transactions to the adapter layer in the
gateway.

Upon receipt of the 275, a "
mapper
", would take the information from the 275 transaction
and convert it

into a C62 and complete a document submission to CMS.

This would make it easier
for any HIH to submit document to CMS as they do today.

While some HIHs can build a web service
to call the gateway, not all can.

By doing this, we can increase the rate of adoption to the ESMD
program.
