What is the QA team is responsible for?

The QA team is responsible for the end to end quality of the EasyRoommate

product, including live services. The QA team sits within the Technical team and
works closely with the product,

business

and customer service teams.

How will this candidate fit amongst the team?

The successful candidate would be part of our

response team
, working alongside
developers working on critical system failures, new functional testing and bug
fixes.

The candidate will work long side Product and Business owners to help identify
-

where possible
-

the true nature of critical faults within our produc
t and test fixes
provided by our development team. Where required, the candidate will have to assist
or create test cases and provide test case outlines for our automation QA team.

While the role does not require the writing of automated test scripts, it w
ill require the
candidate to use our automated testing suite.

Other duties may include regression
testing prior

to

and post deployments, assisting with issue documentation and
interpreting automated testing results.

The ability to construct automated test
s
(within the Selenium framework) would be seen as a major plus.

the improvement of our QA and product
development process.

The successful candidate will report to the QA Manager although work closely with
the Engineer Team Lead, developers on our response team and fellow members of
the QA team based in London and our
outsource partners..


Essential skills and experience:



Functional testing of web
-
based applications and live services



Exposure to working in an agile/scrum development environment



A basic understanding SQL, able to run queries and interpret data



Broad unde
rstanding of web technologies eg. HTML, CSS, JavaScript,



Knowledge of common web debugging/monitoring tools



Knowledge of compatibility testing and advanced features of common web
browsers



Ability to rapidly understand and question requirements to formulat
e tests



Scripted and non
-
scripted test approaches



Exposure to the full lifecycle, from requirements gathering to production
testing



Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with strong attention to detail



Able to communicate clearly and concisely to

both technical and business
people



Enthusiasm for analytical, research tasks and problem solving



Must be fluent in English, both verbal and written.

Desirable skills and experience:



Exposure to Hudson, Selenium and Jmeter.




Ability to construct test scrip
ts in Python would be seen as a major plus.




Non
-
functional testing including security, performance and accessibility



Understanding of eCommerce



Exposure to SEO and analytics tools
