Mechatronics,

a

blend

of

mechanics

and

electronics,

has

come

to

mean

the

synergistic

use

of

precision

engineering,

control

theory,

computer

science,

and

sensor

and

actuator

technology

to

design

improved

products

processes

Mechatronics

is

nothing

new
;

it

is

simply

the

application

of

the

latest

techniques

in

precision

mechanical

engineering,

controls

theory,

computer

science,

and

electronics

to

the

design

process

to

create

more

functional

adaptable

products
.

This,

course,

is

something

forward

thinking

designers

1) The main areas of research would include : Advanced Polymer and Composite
Engineering

industry

one

the

few

industries

in

which

the

India

should

maintain

a

strong

leadership

an

extremely

competitive

global

CAPCED

foster

enable

Nanoscale

Science

and

Technology

(CNST)

would

be

devoted

to

nurturing

nanoscale

science

technology,

which

centers

on

the

science

and

engineering

of

functional

structures

having

dimensions

between

one

and

100

nanometers
.




Research areas to be included are Nanomaterials Characterization Science and
Processing Technology



The

investigations

on

Nanomaterials

Characterization

Science

and

Processing

Technology

would

engage

a

cluster

of

research

faculty

in

independent

and

collaborative

research

investigations

to

advance

the

chemical

knowledge

base

underpinning

the

unequivocal

comprehensive

determination

of

the

chemical

status

of

nanomaterials
.

This

research

would

generate

chemical

information

that

would

provide

the

intellectual

foundation

for

verification

of

the

directed

synthesis,

and

fabrication

of

nanomaterials

The

development

of

methods

for

processing

new

nanomaterials

clearly

definable

chemical

identities

technologically

Predictably,
